Privacy Policy

The short version

The desktop software never reads anything but the files you point Windows Explorer at, never uploads them, and has no analytics. The website keeps ordinary server logs and sales records. That is the whole policy; the rest is detail.

Desktop software

• Thumbnails and previews are rendered on your PC inside Windows Explorer's own extension hosts. File contents are never transmitted.
• At install time the website installer asks https://explorerpreview.com/api/pricing for the current trial length and purchase link. The request contains no personal data beyond your IP address, which our hosting provider logs like any web request.
• Trial start date, trial length and your license key are stored in the Windows registry on your machine only.
• The Microsoft Store edition asks the Store whether the app is licensed; Microsoft's privacy statement governs that exchange.
• A local log (shell.log) under your user profile records errors for troubleshooting. It never leaves your PC unless you send it to us.

Website

• We record page views and installer downloads (path, referrer, browser user agent, IP address, and the approximate city derived from it) to understand traffic. These are kept for operations and not sold or shared.
• Vercel hosts the site and keeps standard request logs. Vercel Analytics collects aggregate, cookie-less page metrics.
• Purchases are processed by Stripe. We receive your email address and the purchase record so we can send your license key and provide support. We never see your card number.
• If you email support, we keep the correspondence to help you.

Cookies

The public site sets no tracking cookies. The administration area uses one session cookie for staff login.

Your rights

Email support@explorerpreview.com to ask what we hold about you or to have it deleted. We answer within 30 days.
